via ferrata to FENNBERG – Bolzano – SOUTH TYROL

Difficulty: middle
Dates: on request
Price: per person: 95 €
Number of participants: min. 3

The via ferrata Fennberg or Favogna is located 3.8 km south of Magrè/Magreid in the south from Bolzano.

The sun-exposed via Ferrata Fennberg near Bolzano is a real delight and surprises climb with fantastic views of the Adige Valley below.

Tip: do not start too late because the rock faces heat up quickly in the sun! The best time is spring and autumn.

The start of the via ferrata is a vertical chimney, followed by rocky passages with brackets, cables and iron ladders. A partially exposed trail leads through brushwood to the last rocky passage. Highest point: 1050 m

There follows is a short secured stretch until the trail turns into a forest trail leading to the first houses in Favogna di Sotto/Unterfennberg.
After approx. 300 m on a paved road, a forest trail branches off to the left (marker no. 3). This leads to the meadows and lake basin of Favogna di Sotto (1,047 m) where there are two possible refreshment stops.

There are two different return routes:
take the normal route (marker no. 3) to Magrè and from there walk back to the starting point (approx. 45 min).
Alternative: you stop on the restaurant and the mountain guide quickly descent alone and returns with the car!

Total time: 5 1/2 hours, Altitude in ascent: 980 m, difficult: B/C.
